Launch is a handy utility for Windows which lets you start programs directly
from the Windows desktop without having to go through the program manager or
file manager. Your favorite programs are only one mouse click away!
Installation is a snap- just copy Launch to your hard disk. Launch will
create a default menu the first time it runs (or anytime it cannot find
LAUNCH.INI). You can install Launch in your WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI so it will
load automatically. The online help contains more detailed instructions.
Once Launch is installed just click the left mouse button once over the empty
desktop. Your Launch menu will pop up automatically.
Please feel free to distribute this program to others. Just be careful and
remember to include both files (LAUNCH.EXE and LAUNCH.TXT) together in the
archive.
The organization of the Launch INI file has changed in this version so if you
are upgrading from an earlier version of Launch I recommend that you erase
your old LAUNCH.INI and let Launch build a new one for you.
I have put a lot of time into Launch and have made it available as shareware.
If you use Launch please take the time to send in your registration. The
cost is only $25 (3,000 yen in Japan). Don't forget to include your name,
address and product version number. Site licenses are also available.
Checks can be drawn on an American or Japanese bank.
Revision history:
10/25/90 1.0 Initial release.
12/03/90 1.1 Some people reported a compatibility problem when running
Windows Recorder with Launch. Investigation revealed that
Recorder was engaging in the bizarre act of sending a
left-mouse-button-press message through the Windows desktop
whenever a macro was executed (which naturally caused Launch
to pop up). I added a check to determine if the mouse button
press was genuine.
2/15/91 1.2 First shareware release. Improved "unload/reload" capability.
Added online help system and improved documentation. Added
(Separator) and (Exit) features to the menu. Improved
installation (automatically builds LAUNCH.INI).
2/25/91 1.3 Added (ExitLaunch), (Help), (About) and (Run) features to the
menu. Added "Run" dialog box. Added support for the WIN.INI
"[Extensions]".
3/5/91 1.4 Added (TileWindows), (CascadeWindows) and (ArrangeIcons).
Added options to disable the Launch icon and configure which
mouse button pops up Launch. Added Run history.
